Street children are a term used to refer to children who live on the streets. They are lived in the streets for years. Street children describe children who live or work on the streets. Some of these children live with their families. Most children on the streets are between the ages of about 5 and 18 years old, may be increase of 18 years. Street children live in abandoned buildings, cardboard boxes, parks or on the street itself. Street children are those that are not taken care of by parents or other protective guardians. They are seeped in the streets. Street children spend some time in the streets and sleep in a house with ill-prepared adults. Street children exist in many major cities, especially in developing countries. Children of the street actually live on the street (or outside of a normal family environment). The phenomenon of sexual abuse of street children


Sexual abuse of street children has become a phenomenon in the Arab world, despite the lack of accurate statistics on the proportion of attacks on these children, the proportion of sexual abuse in Morocco for a total incidence of violence against children, amounted to approximately 60%, in Egypt indicate a report of of the Land Center for Human Rights presented to the "street children" to 3069 different crime, which killed 133 children, including 88 male and 45 female, indecent assault were 275 male children and 125 female, and the 1230 rape of a girl in the street girls, and torture of 21 boys and 7 girls, were also the kidnapping of 40 male and female for use in criminal operations, and 85% of the crimes committed by members of the lower classes of society.

The report also states that incidents of violence against children in the 6 months alone, 349 incidents, of which 106 cases of sexual abuse, and violence has reached 66 cases, and the number of cases of negligence in the case of care 81.


The events of the sexual abuse of children 18% of the total incidents against them, has been shown that 35% of the perpetrators of these incidents are
relatives of children and 65% have no contact with them.

Not only the phenomenon of sexual abuse of street children in Egypt, in Syria, statistics indicate that the city of Aleppo has seen 1945 cases of violence against children, representing about 23.5% of the total cases of violence in society, including 249 cases of sexual violence, which is equivalent to 12.8% of the total cases of violence, and the 1696 case of physical violence, which is equivalent to 87.2%, cases have been distributed by sex as follows: the status of 179 males, representing 71.8%, and 70 cases female, the equivalent of 28.2%.

For the type of attack accounted for 183 cases or 73.5%, "sexual assault" and 62 cases by 24.9% "harassment without sexual abuse", and 4 per cent or 1.6%, "the killing of children."


The sta
tistics confirmed that the Syrian reported cases are only the proportion not exceeding 10% of the proportion of actual incidents, because of the sensitivity of this subject, especially in conservative Arab societies, such as the Syrian society.
